Mission Chapel Dedicated to “Mommy” Moffett

Apr 21, 2014 | Have Faith Haiti, News + Updates

On April 12, 2014,  staff and students gathered at the Have Faith Haiti Mission chapel to honor long-time missionary Florence “Mommy” Moffett, who died in 2012 at age 82.

For more than 20 years, Florence lovingly cared for the children at the Mission, often sacrificing her own health to be with them and ensure their safety and well being.  Yonell, a Haitian director who was essentially raised by Florence, spoke affectionately of her love and dedication and of the enormously positive impact she had on everyone there.

Florence’s son and daughter-in-law were on hand to witness the dedication and to see her picture permanently hung inside the chapel.  Her name will prominently remain on the exterior of the chapel for all to see.
