Kids Learn About Cameras From Erika Saeger

All the children and staff were also treated to a special visit from Erika Saeger, an ambassador for the nonprofit “AdoptTogether” who works as a producer for a film company in Los Angeles. This was Erika’s second visit to the Mission, and she made a point of spending time with each child, teaching them how to use a digital camera.

They snapped several shots then printed their favorite in the Mission office. Erika said she was amazed at how patient the children were. She then helped them decorate frames for their photos using paint, crayons, glitter, and stickers. After gluing the photos into the frames, Erika presented each child with his or her own work of art the following evening. Each frame has a Velcro fastener on the back so the kids have a nice keepsake to attach to their beds.

Says Erika, “This place captured my heart. From the teachers to the nannies to the gazebo where the kids sing their hearts out every night during Devotion before bed, I was hooked. I witnessed them striving, laughing, playing, speaking three languages – so completely loved and cared for every hour of the day. I was – and continue to be – in total awe of the unconditional love, safety, education, and nurture this mission provides for the kids.” The kids were in awe of Erika’s warm nature – and of her long hair!
